History

Camp Seneb was established in 2016 and Camp Reflections was established in 2019 by Nick M. Teich, PhD, LCSW and runs week-long camps at our very own site in New Hampshire. Camp Seneb is for youth with skeletal dysplasia/dwarfism and their siblings, and Camp Reflections is for youth with facial differences and their siblings.

Nick became Director Emeritus during Summer 2022, and handed the reins over to Umut Dursun, current Executive Director of Harbor Camps, our 501(c)(3) organization, and Camp Director of Camp Seneb and Camp Reflections. Umut works full-time, year round on all our camps, along with Director of Development & Family Outreach Ruth Lindner, Director of Staffing Danni Pirtle, and Facilities Manager Steve Jaeger. Our campers and staff are our only focus and passion 365 days a year!

Mission & Values

Camp Seneb & Camp Reflections provide camps for youth & families of specific populations that may often feel marginalized; our camps build confidence, resilience, community, and offer a place where campers can be their authentic selves.

We value holding a space where kids can be kids and many of the worries of everyday life are gone. Our camps are places where our kids can be themselves and enjoy each other and the activities without a requirement of discussing, defending, or worrying about why they are who they are.

We build confidence, resilience, and community for our campers by way of our campers:

• Living communally in a bunk with others
• Having face-to-face relationships with one another (no electronics!)
• Participating in fun and challenging outdoor activities in a noncompetitive atmosphere
• Learning that they are strong and have unlimited possibilities just being who they are
• Learning to be independent and to step outside their comfort zone
• Making lifelong friendships

Umut and the leadership team are hands-on every day at camp, communicating with campers, counselors, and parents. Our volunteer camp counselors are in the bunks and the activities with the campers. We keep approximately a 4:1 camper to counselor ratio in the bunks and in activities.
